The MRHHA is a joint creation of Moose Cree First Nation, MoCreebec Eeyoud Council of the Cree Nation and the Town of Moosonee, as well as grassroots community members in Moose Factory and Moosonee. Our mission is to build a future with our shared past. This shared past is centred in the deep history and broad territory of the Mooso Sibi Illiliwak, and as well as the heritage and tradition of hospitality that has seen many diverse people welcomed into Moose Cree territory, friendships, and families for centuries.

In 1973, Moose Cree First Nation leaders and members worked with other Moose Factory residents to plan a 300th anniversary celebration that had a big impact on our community. Following their example, we want to focus on More than 350 Years in the Making, to draw attention to the much deeper and broader history of our community and region, and to achieve community and economic development goals that integrate and impact education, heritage and language restoration, reconciliation, traditional and contemporary cultural and artistic development, health, etc.

The St. Thomas Restoration project is part of this and aims to restore the old church as a heritage venue serving the entire community. We want your input on this.

Part of our plans are to develop a Heritage Conservation plan, and to restore heritage buildings for the use of the community. In Moose Factory, we are working to restore St. Thomas Church as a heritage venue for the whole communituy. In Moosonee, we would like to restore the Revillon Frères building. There is much more to our heritage conservation plan than these two projects. Come and hear more, and give your input.
