How to participate:

  1. Visit Old St. Thomas and take a selfie, photo or short video of the place. If you’re not able to visit in person, share a photo or video taken during a previous visit, a photo from your family's photos (e.g. a wedding photo your grandparents), or a photo of memorabilia or artefacts connected to Old St. Thomas). 

  2. Post your photo or short video on your Instagram or Facebook account with #HistoricPlacesDays #HPDContest2024#oldstthomasMF

  3. Tag and follow @nationaltrustca@mooseriverhha

 

Note:  Share the Historic Places posts about the contest on your social media account, tag @nationaltrustca and your favourite historic place, and gain an additional contest entry! 

What you can win for yourself and for Old St. Thomas:

  • Every photo/video post will be entered in National Trust for Canada draws for three Grand prizes of $1,000. If your photo wins, you will receive $500, and $500 will be donated to the Šawelihcikewin Fundraising Campaign for the Restoration and Renewal of Old St. Thomas.

  • Daily prizes will be awarded by the National Trust for Canada, starting on July 11 and include Parks Canada Passes, Canada’s History Subscriptions, Canadian Geographic Magazine Subscriptions, and National Trust Memberships.

  • For every photo/video post entered, a generous anonymous local small business donor will give $25, up to a maximum of $5,000, to the Šawelihcikewin Fundraising Campaign for the Restoration and Renewal of Old St. Thomas.​​

Additional Details: 

  • In posting, you give the National Trust for Canada and the MRHHA permission to use your content in promotional material (social media, website, print, etc).

  • You can use the same photo or video to post on all your social media channels on the same day, and you can enter the contest every day using a different photo, digital selfie or short video.

  • A maximum of two (2) runner up prizes awarded per participant.

  • In order to qualify for the grand prize, you must submit your own original photo or video entry. Entries gained solely from sharing posts will not be considered for the grand prize.

  • Co-sponsors of the National Trust for Canada contest include Parks Canada, Canadian Geographic, and Canada's History
