Mîkwec Contributors to the More Than 350 Commemoration!

March 9, 2026

Wâciye!

Time has passed since the More Than 350 Commemoration gathering and the subsequent seasonal events that took place throughout 2023, 2024 and 2025.

During our Annual General Meeting in Moose Factory earlier this month, we acknowledged our Community Leadership, Committee Members, Contributors, Sponsors, Donors and Volunteers who helped make the Commemoration and following events a success with a Commemorative Plaque.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Moose Cree First Nation, our lead co-founding jurisdictional member, and the primary funder of the More than 350 Commemoration. Included in this thank you are all the various Moose Cree departments and non-profit organizations that have contributed in-kind support. We also wish to acknowledge and thank our two other co-founding jurisdictional members: MoCreebec Eeyoud Council and the Town of Moosonee, who have also provided funding and in-kind support to the More Than 350 Commemoration.

Other major supporters, providing more than $50,000 in funding or in-kind support include our Askiy contributors. In the case of the Government of Canada, we had funding and in-kind support from several departments, including Canadian Heritage, through the Community Anniversaries Fund, Indigenous Services Canada, FedNor, and Parks Canada.

Those who have provided upwards of $3,000 in cash or in-kind support are listed as our Nipiy contributors.

Others are recognized as our Niska contributors, providing both financial and in-kind support that was significant in numerous ways.

Thanks to their generosity, we were able to put on eight major events and finish or launch a number of projects. Not included in this list of thank you's are those who contributed exclusively to our largest capital legacy project for the More than 350 Commemoration: the restoration of Old St. Thomas Church as a multi-use centre. Your generous support and contribution moves us closer to our fundraising goal!
