Hi, my name is Stan Louttit, of Moose Factory. I'm a Cree writer, historian, anthropologist and musician from Moose Factory, Ontario. I hold an Honours BA in Arts/Science and a Master's in Cultural Anthropology from Carleton University, Ottawa, ON. As well, I’ve spent many years as a musician, and hold a Music Diploma in Jazz performance from Humber College in Toronto.
I’ve worked in Moose Factory for many years in education and hydro energy projects for the Moose Cree First Nation.
However, I've started a new role as the Entrepreneurship and Holistic Development Lead for the Moose River Heritage and Hospitality Association. My activities and tasks will involve developing and establishing economic opportunities within the hospitality, tourism, history, cultural, music, and film sectors. I hope to build upon our area’s unique, Cree and non-Cree history so that peoples from all over the world may wish to visit us, stay and spend their financial resources to experience our unique heritage, tourism, hospitality, and history. If we offer lasting, quality experiences, people will visit, stay, be inspired to perhaps return again with others.
As well, I look forward to helping create economic opportunities for youth as I was once a local tour guide that worked at St. Thomas Anglican Church during summer months. In closing, our area offers so much history and culture that we need to build upon that again to not only inject our economy, but simply to showcase our beautiful homeland.
